The Enhanced Rider Scheme (ERS)
This a course approved by the Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
We at 3D Motorcycle Training have developed a course which will be both affordable in terms of time and money, and also achievable for the majority of our customers.
It is ideal for people who have recently passed their test, are returning to motorcycling after a break or for those that use their motorcycle on a casual basis. We want you to enjoy riding your motorcycle and enhance your ability to continue doing so without any unforeseen interruptions.
Pre-Course requirements
It is RECOMMENDED to have a copy of motorcycle ‘Roadcraft’ and have spent some time studying it. We advise that you and your machine must be capable of coping with both the speed and distances involved, motorcycles should be able to maintain progress in the national speed limit both on A roads and motorways and be able to overtake quickly when required. A minimum power output of 33bhp or more for participating machines is recommended. You should be familiar with your machine as some of the techniques may be new to you. You should have held a full motorcycle licence for at least 6 months and have an appropriate level of experience.
Course Structure
The practical part of the course is approximately 6 hours long. we spend a brief amount of time in our training area ensuring that you are competent at slow speed handling . We then follow this with 4 – 5 hours on road training during which time we are looking to improve your use of brakes and gears, forward planning, positioning for the best view ahead, overtaking and use of speed.
Ideally we are looking to assess at the end of the riding period your ability to ride to a consistently enhanced standard. In other words your riding is smooth and well planned, and takes advantage of fairly straight forward defensive riding practises. It is strictly within speed limits.
If you have not met the standard by the end of the training we will give you a Student Record Card with clear goals that we want you to achieve before coming back to see us again. Having practised on your own we will then do a further hour of training/assessing to confirm you have now reached the ERS standard.
Course Costs and Time scale
The cost of the ERS course is £250.00. The actual course is approximately 6 hours long with about 1 – 2 hours research and question answering done at home beforehand.
We run the course by appointment at a ratio of two students (maximum) to one instructor.
If you need extra training this is charged at £44.50/hour
To be able to offer this course, Mark, has completed an extended Motorcycle Theory Test and is a DVSA certified DAS instructor and is regularly assessed by the DVSA on his instructional abilities.
